There is a theory doing the rounds in political circles that KCR might actually prefer Chandrababu Naidu as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
In 2014, KCR said the TRS would sweep the polls in Telangana and YS Jagan in Andhra Pradesh. While TRS did win, KCR’s statement proved wrong as it was TDP that won in AP.
Jagan was fighting legal battles then and the yellow media was successful in its propaganda that he had embezzled 1.5 lakh crore although the charge sheet filed by the CBI mentioned only 11,000 crore. But the damage had been done!
Now, out of the blue and quite unnecessarily, KCR again came up with a statement that there has been no progress in AP or the last four years.
On the face of it, this sounds like a statement advantageous to the YSRCP. But the truth could be otherwise. Andhras naturally have no regard for KCR and out of spite for him; they may actually end up voting or the TDP because of regional feeling.
KCR will always have the advantage in dealing with Chandrababu Naidu in inter-state disputes regarding water sharing or assets division etc. But Jagan Mohan Reddy is a completely different ball-game altogether.
Jagan will not be cowed into submission and KCR will have a tough time negotiating with YS Jagan as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh as Jagan is a strong and uncompromising individual.
And with CBN having run away from Hyderabad after the cash-for-vote case, there is no way he can have the upper hand over KCR.
But Jagan’s cases are being dealt with by the CBI and should he get a clean certificate, KCR can do absolutely nothing in his case.
