Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana on Saturday said the Congress party stood for sacrifice and total dedication towards the people and without the party, no leader had any identity.
Addressing the workers after hoisting the flag to mark the 129th anniversary of Congress formation at Gandhi Bhavan, Botsa said that the Congress had begun its journey 129 years ago to get independence from the British Rule.
He said that the party was led and served by many great leaders.
While Indira Gandhi gave direction to the party in the modern world, Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed his life to rejuvenate the party.
He said Sonia Gandhi was still carrying the mission to serve the people of the country.
"Congress party is our identity and we are nothing without it," Botsa said.
He said that the Congress stands for secularism and there was no space for communal elements in the party.
He said that the Congress has waged a serious battle against corruption by passing the Lok Pal Bill in the Parliament.
