How KCR Made Naidu Shut His Mouth..

The apex council meeting attended by Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu under the auspices of Union water resources minister Uma Bharati was supposedly held in a friendly atmosphere, but inside information is that KCR gained a complete upper hand over Naidu in the meeting.

When Naidu gave the presentation first, he vehemently opposed the construction of two lift irrigation projects – Palamuru-Ranga Reddy and Dindi – on Krishna river at the foreshore of Srisailam reservoir.

Naidu argued that both the projects are newly proposed and do not find mention in the list of ongoing projects as per the AP Reorganisation Act and hence, they are illegal.

However, when his turn came, KCR gave evidences to prove that both the projects are not new, but old.

KCR presented the old GOs issued by the previous Congress government to that effect. He reminded that several other ongoing projects on Krishna and Godavari rivers were also not mentioned in the ongoing project list, which was prepared in a hurry while drafting the bifurcation act.

Naidu was expecting that KCR would show these GOs and was well-prepared for the counter. He argued that though the previous Congress issued GOs, they were only for proposals before the bifurcation and no promises or sanctions were made for them.

At this stage, KCR came out with a solid evidence. He, then, took out a video clipping of the public meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Mahbubnagar before the elections, in which Naidu also spoke.

The video clipping clearly showed how both Modi and Naidu spoke about Palamuru and Dindi lift irrigation schemes, which were proposed but neglected by the previous Congress government; and how both of them promised to complete the same if the TDP comes to power.

KCR also showed the manifestos of Telangana TDP and the BJP, both of which clearly mentioned about Palamuru and Dindi schemes, which they said would be completed if the TDP-BJP combine comes to power.

“That is what we are doing now. How can they be called new projects? If they are not in the Act, why did Naidu and Modi mention the same in their speeches and manifestos?” KCR asked.

Uma Bharati completely agree with KCR and declared that they are not new projects. And Naidu had no option but to shut his mouth.
