Andhra Pradesh Health Minister, Kamineni Srinivas while participating in an event at a private hospital in Hyderabad outlined his vision for AP and that is to have corporate hospitals in each and every district.
As the ‘Health Minister’ one would have probably expected him to ensure that the government hospitals are functioning efficiently and to set up a government hospital in all the districts which would enable greater number of the poor people to receive medical attention.
His priority should be on making the government hospitals into stellar performers.
Comparatively, Kamineni’s statement is like the Transport Minister saying, “We will have ‘Kesineni Travels’ in all districts soon.”
Will the rural poor be able to afford the corporate hospitals? And will it be a financially viable business for the corporate hospitals?
