Disgruntlement rocks TDP after MLC nominations!

Disgruntlement rocks TDP after MLC nominations!

As expected, the announcement of names of the MLC seats under local bodies’ quota in various districts of Andhra Pradesh has triggered a big revolt in the ruling Telugu Desam Party.

Several aspirants for the MLC seats who failed to get the party tickets started filing nominations as rebel candidates.

Though TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu selected the candidates long ago, he kept it as a secret till Monday midnight, ostensibly to prevent the discontent among the other aspirants.

In several districts, particularly in Nellore, West Godavari, East Godavari and Srikakulam districts many leaders openly revolted and even threatened to file nomination as rebel candidate.

However, district ministers and district incharge ministers makes efforts to pacify them and also prevent them from filing nomination papers.

For example, there was an open revolt from the TDP leaders in Srikakulam district, where Naidu announced the name of former Congress minister Satrucharla Vijayarama Raju, ignoring party veteran Kolla Appala Naidu.

All the party leaders from the district well in advance conveyed their discontent over the move to field Satrucharla from this district, as he hails from neighbouring Vizianagaram district.

Likewise, in East Godavari sitting MLC Boddu Bhaskara Ramarao felt he was deceived for trusting the party leadership, by fielding former minister Chikkala Ramachandra Rao.

In Nellore district, giving seat to sitting MLC Vakati Narayana Reddy has led to discontent among resourceful Adala Prabhakar Reddy, besides Anam brothers, who were admitted into the party last year promising MLC seat.

In Anantapur, several party leaders have openly opposing against fielding Deepak Reddy, a close relative of JC Diwakar Reddy.

And in Kurnool district, the selection of Silpa Chakrapani Reddy has not gone down well with the camp of Bhuma Nagi Reddy. It remains to be seen how Naidu would pacify the rebels.
