Did Narasimhan Carry Any Message To Naidu?

After a long time, Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana E S L Narasimhan had a long meeting with Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu at Praja Vedika at Vundavalli in Amaravati on Sunday, raising many an eyebrow.

Governor was in Amaravati for the swearing-in ceremony of two ministers – Kidari Sravan and N M D Farooq – in the Naidu cabinet which saw a minor expansion on Sunday.

After the ceremony, Narasimhan and Naidu had a one-on-one meeting in a closed chamber for more than one hour.

This was for the first time that Governor had a meeting with Naidu in the recent past, as both of them had not seen eye to eye for a long time.

In fact, Naidu had openly expressed protest against the Governor for directly calling Director General of Police R P Thakur after the recent attack on the life of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy to know the first hand information.

He even accused the Governor of acting as an agent of Narendra Modi and periodically submitting negative reports against his government to the Centre. So, it naturally evoked curiosity in the media as to whether Naidu had a patch up with the Governor.

According to reports from Amaravati, Naidu had given a detailed explanation to the Governor on the attack on Jagan at the Vizag airport and how the YSRC leaders sought to shift the blame on the TDP government though it happened in the high security zone manned by the Central Industrial Security Force.

He also felt why he felt bad when the Governor had called the DGP directly, instead of him to know the factual situation.

Narasimhan also gave his version stating that he thought the DGP would get the first hand information and hence, called him directly. He did not mean bypassing the government.

However, inquiries revealed that the Governor had conveyed to Naidu the message from the Centre that he should not get into direct confrontation with the NDA government, since it would be unnecessarily lead to troubles to the TDP.

Apparently, the Governor expressed view that Naidu’s attempts to consolidate all the opposition parties against the BJP would do more harm than good to his party.

Naidu also explained that he had no personal enmity with Modi or anybody for that matter and as the head of a political party, it was duty to protect its interests.

He said he had to take into the people the political vendetta of the BJP leadership just because he was not subservient to Modi.

“It is all part of the political game,” the TDP president explained.
