Did KCR Tour Delhi On His Own or On Call?

Did KCR Tour Delhi On His Own or On Call?

The sudden three-day visit of Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to New Delhi from Friday to Sunday kicked up a big debate in the media and political circles.

The Telangana chief minister met a few ministers, wrapped them with shawls and presented them bouquets. And on Saturday night, he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, bowed before him and had a one-on-one meeting for 45 minutes.

Well, the media leaks by the CMO about representations KCR had made to Modi and other ministers on pending issues of the state are only for the sake of record, as there is nothing new in his representations.

So, definitely, the meeting of KCR with Modi had political overtones. But the question is whether KCR had gone to Delhi on his own or following a call from the Centre. There are different versions which are being heard in the political circles now.

According to one theory, KCR had gone to Delhi on his own and sought an appointment with the PM and other ministers on the state’s issues.

His plan was apparently to blame the BJP leadership if he did not get the appointment with PM and Amit Shah, stating that the Centre was least bothered about Telangana.

So, within hours of landing in New Delhi, KCR got an appointment. Even PM, who had not given him appointment for the last one year, quickly gave him the time only to pre-empt the TRS chief’s plans to play a blame game.

There is also another rumour being circulated in a section of media – that KCR had realised that the BJP leadership was going to target him by digging out old cases and trouble him hereafter. So, the TRS chief had surrendered to the central leadership and agreed to extend issue-based support to NDA.

There is also another talk in the political circles. The TRS chief had gone to New Delhi only on the request of Union home minister Amit Shah and it was because of the call from the Centre that he could get the appointments so quickly.

Apparently, the Modi government sought the help of KCR to tackle the farmers’ agitation against the controversial legislations.

The agitation is all set to gain momentum from December 18 and if it spreads to all over the country, it would be a threat to the Modi government.

So, Modi and Shah reportedly requested KCR to see that the agitation does not spread to the southern states. Apart from KCR, Modi might also have a talk with Jagan and TN chief E Palaniswamy.

It remains to be seen which of these three theories is correct!
