Damocles Sword Hanging Over Pawan Kalyan

Damocles Sword Hanging Over Pawan Kalyan

While 2024 general elections are 13 months away from now, there is no time for Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan to decide on his alliance.

He should decide whether he wants to stay with the BJP or break the alliance and go for fresh alliance with the TDP after February 16.

The Election Commission had released the schedule for the biennial elections to the MLC seats on March 13 and the notification is scheduled to be issued on February 16.

The ruling YSR Congress, the opposition TDP and the BJP are moving their pawns to win the elections to prove their strength ahead of the 2024 general election.

The ruling YSR Congress is set to wrest all the local body MLC seats, while there is going to be a tough fight in the two Teachers Constituencies and three Graduates Constituencies.

Though the Left parties-sponsored teachers unions are strong in the Teachers constituencies, the YSR Congress and the TDP, too, want their teachers’ union leaders to win the election.

In the Graduates constituencies, the BJP wants to retain the Srikakulam-Vizianagaram-Visakhapatnam constituency.

Similarly, the YSR Congress wants to retain the Anantapur-Kurnool-Kadapa seat and wrest the remaining Chittoor-Nellore-Prakasam from the Progressive Democratic Front and the Srikakulam-Vizianagaram-Visakhapatnam seat from the BJP.

The TDP too wants to win the three Graduates Constituencies by fielding its candidates directly.

As the fight is set to be a tough one, the TDP is mounting pressure on Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan to take a call now.

The TDP wants the alliance with the Jana Sena to be built right now in the MLC elections and continue in the general election.

It is time for Pawan Kalyan to break his alliance with the BJP and go with the TDP now or stay with the BJP till the eleventh hour.

What would Pawan Kalyan do will be important for the TDP as the EC would issue the notification on February 16.
