Former MP and Telangana Congress party MLC Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy on Friday warned that the party would be the biggest loser, if it sacks him in the name of disciplinary action.
Rajagopal was served with a show-cause notice by the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee’s disciplinary committee headed by former MLA M Kodanda Reddy in the morning for his aggressive comments against AICC in-charge of Telangana affairs R C Khuntia and others.
He alleged that Khuntia had become a “shani” for the Congress party and all the committees had been filled with brokers.
The disciplinary committee gave him two days’ time to give his explanation, failing which he would be expelled from the party.
Reacting to the show-cause notice, Rajagopal Reddy said he was giving his reply within two hours.
“Whatever I said was only the reflection of the feelings of the ordinary party workers. The party high command should understand these feelings. I have no intention of harming the party, as I am still a loyal party worker,” he said.
He sought to know why he had been served with show-cause notice.
“First of all, Khuntia should give an explanation as to why the party was not becoming strong. How can they ignore seniors and loyal party workers and encourage those who recently joined the party? How can they promote those who were responsible for the party’s defeat in 2014?” he asked.
Stating that the Congress had fair chances of coming to power, Rajagopal said workers were demanding that those who had been serving the party for decades should be rewarded.
“The high command should talk to leaders like us. Why? Are we unfit for important posts? It is not proper on the part of those who had sold posts to issue show cause notices by sitting in Gandhi Bhavan,” he said.
He said he had made strong comments only out of anguish and the party should understand it.
“Now, the PCC should decide whether it needs Rajagopal Reddy or not,” he said, added that he would not join any other party, if he was expelled from the Congress.
