Cong Desperate To Regain Footing In AP!

Cong Desperate To Regain Footing In AP!

The Congress party, which had been completely wiped out from the political arena in Andhra Pradesh, is now making desperate attempts to regain its footing in the State, which was once its strong bastion.

There are hardly any senior Congress leaders left in AP as many of them had joined either the ruling Telugu Desam Party, or the Bharatiya Janata Party and even YSR Congress party.

Yet, whoever is left – whether it is KVP Ramachandra Rao or MM Pallam Raju or Raghuveera Reddy, have been trying to create an impression that the Congress might be down in AP, but is not completely out.

This was evident from the way the AP Congress leaders created some hungama in the national capital of Delhi in the last two days in the name of securing special category status to Andhra Pradesh.

On Wednesday, they organised a big rally which was attended by Congress president Sonia Gandhi, vice-president Rahul Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who declared that they would continue their struggle till the NDA government conceded special status to AP.

To a large extent, the Congress leaders succeeded in attracting the attention of the people of the State with their protest rallies and fighting in Parliament.

Political analysts say this would definitely fetch some advantage to the Congress, since the people have lost hope on the BJP and the TDP in getting special status to AP.

What is worse, the Centre is not giving adequate funds to the State to compensate the losses it has incurred post bifurcation. The AP Assembly had to adopt a resolution on Wednesday seeking special package to the State.

Though YSR Congress party is a dominant Opposition party, it has not been able to take up the issue in a big way because of its own problems.

In such a situation, if the Congress leaders are able to sustain their fight for long, there is every possibility that the party might regain its identity, if not get the chances of returning to power in 2019 elections!
