Popular television channel TV9 is known for kicking up controversies during the debates on contentious issues and then fuel them to get the maximum viewership.
It did exactly the same on Friday when channel anchor Rajnikanth initiated a debate on the ongoing controversy over Sanjay Leela Bhansali film Padmavathi, in which Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Goshamahal Raja Singh took part.
During the debate, the MLA defended his party MP Chintamani Malaviya’s comment that women in the families of filmmakers change their husbands every day.
As the debate was raging, Raja Singh inadvertently commented that such a situation is witnessed even in our own Telugu film industry.
The TV9 anchor picked up that one point and diverted the entire debate on Padmavathi.
He repeatedly tried to corner Raja Singh as to whether he stood by his comment on women film personalities in Tollywood.
Though the MLA asked the anchor to confine the debate to Padmavathi, the latter continued to rake up the MLA’s comment on Tollywood women.
Not satisfied with the explanation given by Raja Singh, the anchor also roped popular producer and director Tammareddy Bharadwaja into the debate, who fired at the MLA saying it was unfortunate to have such people as people's representatives.
He walked out of the debate saying he won’t be part of the discussions with such cheap MLAs.
