Cash-for-vote: KCR helpless in bailing out Naidu?

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is learnt to have made a futile attempt to lobby with his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhar Rao to slow down cash-for-vote case.

Naidu, who was in Hyderabad during the last week-end, is understood to have spoken to KCR for a long time on the case which is now being actively pursued by the Anti-Corruption Bureau authorities, ostensibly under pressure from the Bharatiya Janata Party government at the Centre.

However, KCR reportedly told Naidu that nothing was in hands as the Centre was directly monitoring the case, as the Governor had already submitted a detailed dossier to the Centre on the case, which is now in the Supreme Court.

If the ACB does not present the case properly, the Centre is ready to hand over the case to the CBI on a complaint from the YSR Congress party.

Sources say there is no direct evidence against Naidu on offering bribe to the nominated MLA to vote for the TDP candidate in the MLC elections as the voice sample, though it matches with that of Naidu, does nowhere mention about money or the MLC elections.

Yet, it would be a big embarrassment to Naidu if the investigating authorities call him for questioning or ask him to come to the court.

During his review with the senior officials of the police department and also ACB, KCR is understood to have asked about the chances of Naidu getting troubled in the case.

They reportedly told him that the chances of troubles to Naidu would be more, if Revanth Reddy, the prime accused in the case, takes the TDP chief’s name.
