In all probability, most of the so-called senior leaders in major political parties in Andhra Pradesh might not be interested in contesting the next assembly elections scheduled to be held in another three and a half years.
Instead, one might see the possibility of these leaders bringing in their sons and daughters into the electoral battle. So, it is going to be a battle of youngsters in the coming elections.
Particularly, several YSR Congress party leaders won’t be interested in contesting the direct elections and some of them have already declared their desire to bring in their children.
For example, Perni Nani announced that he will drop out from the contest and bring in his son Perni Kittu into the battle.
Similarly, Bhumana Karunakar Reddy will make way for his son Bhumana Abhinay Reddy and Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy will field his son Mohit Reddy.
In line with this trend, senior YSRCP leader and former minister Botsa Satyanarayana is planning to rope in his daughter Dr Botsa Anusha into electoral politics.
According to sources, Dr Anusha, a medical professional by training, is likely to contest from the Cheepurupalli assembly constituency in the upcoming elections.
The move is being seen as a natural extension of the Botsa family’s long-standing influence in the region.
With Botsa Satyanarayana advancing in age and reportedly dealing with health-related issues, party leaders say the family is preparing for a generational shift.
Dr Anusha is said to be entering public life with the intention of continuing her father’s service to the constituency.
Over the past few months, she has intensified her grassroots outreach — visiting villages, interacting with women and youth, and holding meetings to understand local issues firsthand.
“Her background as a doctor has already made her a familiar face among the people, giving her a positive advantage on the ground,” sources said.
Party insiders believe there will be no resistance from the YSRCP high command to her candidature, given Botsa Satyanarayana’s seniority and influence within the ruling party.
Dr Anusha is also actively participating in party programmes under her father’s supervision, gaining organisational experience and building rapport with local cadres. Her imminent entry is already altering political equations in the constituency.
YSRCP cadres expect her candidature to infuse fresh energy into the party base, especially among young voters.
Analysts predict that the formal announcement of her candidature is likely soon.
