BJP to target CM Ramesh projects?

Now that the Telugu Desam Party has almost severed its relations with the Bharatiya Janata Party and has started launching a blistering attack on the Centre, the BJP, too, has started looking for the irregularities committed by the TDP leaders and the Andhra Pradesh government.

According to reports from Amaravati, the BJP leaders are planning to target the business activities of TDP’s Rajya Sabha member C M Ramesh, who has now been nominated to the RS by party president N Chandrababu Naidu for the second term.

Ramesh has been playing a key role in spearheading the agitation against the BJP at the Centre in Rajya Sabha and has been very active in the media.

On the directions from the party’s central leadership, the AP BJP leaders are trying to dig into the business dealings of Ramesh.

According to their information, Ramesh was not doing many infrastructure projects during the Congress regime and it was only after Naidu came to power in 2014, he managed to get several contracts.

At present, Ritwik Projects Limited, promoted by Ramesh, has now been doing several irrigation projects like Galeru-Nagari, Handri-Neeva and Vamsadhara.

The major allegations against the MP are that he had jacked up the project costs abnormally in the name of cost escalation and benefitted by crores of rupees.

The BJP leaders are learnt to have done field studies, verified the bills and inspected the works. They came to the conclusion that there was siphoning of funds to a large extent in the garb of project works.

Once they get the relevant documents, the BJP leaders would start launching a major offensive against the TDP, sources said.
