Power star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan, who has been deliberately keeping away from the demand for reservations to Kapu community all these years, seems to have realised that he has no other option but to play the caste card like all other parties, if he has to sustain in Andhra politics.
For the first time on Saturday, Pawan spoke about the importance of reservations to Kapus, as promised by the Chandrababu Naidu government.
In the past, Pawan never talked about Kapus and even said he did not want to be identified with one community.
He even took pot shots against Mudragada for raising the issue of Kapu reservations only now, while remaining silent during the Congress regimes.
But, his advisors are understood to have told him that if he continued to remain neutral to the issue, it would not fetch him any dividends in the next elections, as Andhra politics are completely caste-oriented.
That is why he has realised the importance of Kapu community and extended his support for Mudragada Padmanabham.
He said the government has no right to stop Mudragada’s padayatra, since it would lead to law and order problem.
He also compared Kapu reservations with that of Special status promised by TDP during election campaign of 2014. Without any delay, Government should fulfill the promise of Kapu community, Pawan said.
