Anantapur is considered to be a bastion of the Telugu Desam Party right from 1982. In the 2014 elections, the TDP has virtually swept the polls in the district by winning 12 out of 14 assembly seats and both the Lok Sabha seats.
Out of the two seats won by the YSR Congress party, one of them Chand Basha from Kadiri also joined the TDP. And YSRC is now left with only one MLA Vishweshwar Reddy from Uravakonda.
Yet, the people of Anantapur district, especially womenfolk, have been showing tremendous response to YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who has been on a marathon padayatra, which entered the district a couple of days ago.
In a very innovative way to extend their support to the opposition leader, a group of 100 enthusiastic women have turned up in a special YSRCP branded saree at his rally on Thursday.
The women in blue and white saree are painting a different colour in the 1000+ people strong cavalcade walking along with Jagan.
According to these women who came to join the padayatra, their sarees were specially ordered from a local textile loom. The women in YSRCP branded saree will be walking along with the opposition leader for the next 3 days. The women supporters have expressed that they will also mobilise women support for YSRCP post the padayatra.
