An Existential Crisis For The TDP

The 2019 elections in all probability will be the most important elections that the TDP has ever fought since inception. Why? It’s a fight for existence for the yellow party!

In Telangana, the party has been wiped out and it is now facing severe anti-incumbency in Andhra Pradesh.

Chandrababu Naidu has been an utter failure and is acting like a patient with dementia and making blunders so uncharacteristic of him.

But, victory or failure, he has held the party together for the last couple of decades but old age seems to be affecting his decision-making now. If TDP loses in 2019, they do not have any charismatic leader to steer the party in the immediate future.

Besides, YS Jagan had confidently stated three years ago that his cadre will only have to bear sufferings until he comes to power and he will take care of them for the next 30 years. He has the ability to make his words come true.

Jr NTR is one possibility to revive the TDP fortunes but one important thing needs to be considered here: When Junior canvassed for the TDP the last time, his speeches were very popular but the TDP lost in all the constituencies that he campaigned in.

Besides, Jr Ntr cannot become even a Sarpanch in the TDP as long as Chandrababu and Lokesh are at the helm of affairs.

So, what options remain for the TDP? Nandamuri Balakrishna? Sad but true, he is one person who has an IQ at a minimal level which he frequently keeps emphasizing through his words and behaviour.

Therefore, it’s a do-or-die situation for the TDP in 2019. Should they fail to come to power, it could easily mark the end of the golden age of the Kammas unless the Party somehow survives until Devansh grows up and proves to be a better speaker than his dad Lokesh.
