Vizag Will Be Capital Soon, Other Two Are Nominal

Minister for Revenue, Dharmana Prasada Rao, on Monday said that Visakhapatnam would soon become the capital of Andhra Pradesh.

The other two capitals – judicial capital at Kurnool and legislative capital at Amaravati – would be nominal and insignificant, he asserted.

Dharmana participated in the round table meeting held at Srikakulam in support of the decentralisation move of the state government.

Dharmana said that the Sivaramakrishnan committee had preferred decentralisation and advised the government not to have the capital between Vijayawada and Guntur.

However, he alleged that Chandrababu Naidu had preferred the capital in the fertile agriculture lands converting them as a major real estate venture.

The Minister said that chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy would soon shift to Visakhapatnam to make it the executive capital.

The secretariat would also move along with the chief minister, he said and thus Visakhapatnam would get the required development and importance as well in the state.

The Minister minced no words to declare that the government would make Visakhapatnam as the administrative capital of the state before going for the next round of elections in 2024.

He also asserted that no force would stop this government from shifting the secretariat to Visakhapatnam and making this big city as the capital of the state.
