TTD to build hangers for Covid-19 patients

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which manages the country’s richest temple of Lord Venakteshwara at Tirumala, has come up with an innovative plan to extend facilities for the Covid-19 patients, in the wake of increasing pressure on the hospitals.

TTD executive officer K S Jawahar Reddy on Thursday announced that it would build as many as 22 hangers with German technology in various parts of Andhra Pradesh at a cost of Rs 3.52 crore.

A pilot project was implemented on experimental basis at Sri Padmavati Hospital in the pilgrim city.

Following requests for similar oxygen bed facilities on the Tirupati model, the TTD executive officer sanctioned the said amount from the S V Sarva Shreya Nidhi to build such hangers with German technology in different places in AP.

Each hanger will have a 30-bed facility. Four such hangers would be built in Visakhapatnam, three each in Anantapur, Guntur, Kakinada and Krishna, two each in Prakasam, Kurnool and two other locations.

The TTD said district collectors would be provided with funds as per the cost estimates made by TTD for each hanger.
