Tadipatri tense, as cops stall Pedda Rddy entry

A tense situation prevailed in Tadipatri town of Anantapur district on Monday with former MLA and YSR Congress party leader Kethireddy Pedda Reddy made an attempt to enter the town, equipped with the orders from the state high court.

As per high court orders, Pedda Reddy was scheduled to enter Tadipatri between 10 and 11 a.m., traveling from Thimmanpalli village in Yellanur mandal of Singanamala constituency.

The court issued strict instructions to the police to escort him into the town and ensure his safety. The court also authorised the police to the use of force if anyone created trouble.

However, despite the court orders, the police stopped Pedda Reddy from entering Tadipatri on the ground that it would lead to law-and-order trouble as TDP leader and Tadipatri municipal chairman J C Prabhakar Reddy vowed not to allow the YSRCP leader into the town.

Prabhakar Reddy organized the consecration ceremony of a Shiva statue in Tadipatri, calling for massive participation by his supporters. This parallel development has created tension in the town.

Anticipating possible clashes with Pedda Reddy and his men, police issued notices advising him to postpone the event. However, JC’s camp reportedly insists on going ahead with the programme.

Having no other way, the police stopped Pedda Reddy from coming to Tadipatri and deployed heavy forces to maintain law and order.
