Srilakshmi To Get Plum Post In AP?

Senior IAS officer Y Srilakshmi, who had been facing a CBI inquiry in the sensational Obulapuram mining scandal since 2011, is most likely to get a prominent post in Andhra Pradesh government headed by YSR Congress party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Srilakshmi, a 1988 batch IAS officer allotted to Telangana cadre, met Jagan at the latter’s Tadepalli residence on Friday.

She requested him to take up with the Telangana government to relieve her, so that she could serve her native state of Andhra Pradesh.

She had already moved an application with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi government stating that she would like to work with the Jagan government in AP.

She had opted for the Telagnana cadre during the bifurcation, as she did not want to work under Telugu Desam Party government headed by N Chandrababu Naidu, who she feels was responsible for her implication in the case.

Now that Naidu was defeated, she wants to come to AP on deputation to work in her native state at least for another five years.

Apparently, Jagan received Srilakshmi well and showed a lot of sympathy for her. He promised to get Srilakshmi on the board and give her a prime posting.

In all probability, she might get the special chief secretary rank post in a key department, sources said.

Srilakshmi was charged by the CBI with flouting norms in granting mining leases to Obulapuram Mining Corporation owned by mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy when Y S Rajasekhar Reddy was Chief Minister.

She had been arrested on November 28, 2011 and had spent nearly one year in Chanchalguda Jail where she fell sick. She came out on bail in October 2012.

In 2016, the Telangana government revoked her suspension, gave orders allotting her to Telangana cadre and a posting.

She rejoined the duty after five years and had been appointed secretary, public enterprises.
