Ustaad Bhagat Singh is now heading toward being labeled an all time disaster in the career of Pawan Kalyan.
Trade circles say the numbers clearly indicate a shocking performance at the box office and distributors are reportedly worried about the heavy losses they are facing.
The film opened with decent expectations but the collections dropped sharply within a single day, leaving buyers in several regions disappointed.
Even in areas of Andhra Pradesh where Pawan Kalyan usually enjoys strong support, the response has been far below expectations.
Distributors point out that when compared with Hari Hara Veera Mallu, which had its own struggles, that film at least performed slightly better than Ustaad Bhagat Singh.
Some distributors are even comparing the degree of failure to Acharya, saying the scale of losses appears similar. The sudden fall in collections has surprised many in the trade.
In Uttarandhra, the Monday share on the fifth day was a shocking Rs 1.58 lakh while the total share so far stands at Rs 5.3 cr. In Krishna district the fifth day share was around Rs 7 lakh with a total share of Rs 3.09 cr.
In East Godavari the fifth day share was only about Rs 2 lakh. An even more surprising fact is that the film reportedly earned only Rs 98,000 share across the entire Guntur district on Monday. This amount is not from just one town but from the whole district.
Trade analysts say such a steep drop by the fifth day signals serious losses for distributors. Many say they never expected a Pawan Kalyan film to perform this poorly considering the scale and expectations.
Shockingly, the film collected less than $1 million in North America, highlighting its disastrous performance. While Akhanda 2 and Hari Hara Veera Mallu crossed the $1 million mark, 'Ustaad Bhagat Singh' failed to reach that milestone.
