In a surprising development, evangelist Brother Anil Kumar, husband of YSR Telangana Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s sister Y S Sharmila, had a one-on-one meeting with former Congress MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar on Friday.
Anil Kumar, who was going to Bhimavaram on his Christian missionary activities, came down to Vundavalli’s residence in Rajahmundry and spent over an hour with him.
Speaking to reporters later, Anil Kumar admitted that he had discussed political situation with Vundavalli, but refused disclose what transpired between them.
“We have our own secrets. We shall disclose the same whenever it is necessary at an appropriate time,” he said.
It is a known fact that Vundavalli has been a hardcore opponent of the bifurcation of combined Andhra Pradesh to form Telangana state. And Anil Kumar’s wife Sharmila has floated a new political party in Telangana and is aiming at coming to power in the state.
Anil Kumar said he had met Vundavalli to gain some knowledge in politics.
“In my view, politics is meant for doing good to the people. I have complete faith in Jesus Christ and without the Jesus will, he would not take up any task,” he said.
The evangelist, however, made a cryptic comment on the growth of Hindu fundamentalism.
“Of late, Hindu religious fanaticism has been growing and we need to fight against it to establish a secular regime,” he said.
Vundavalli, too, refused to make any comments on his meeting with Anil Kumar.
“We have a long family friendship. In this backdrop, he came to my residence after a long time. We have discussed family issues as well as political issues. Nothing more can be revealed at this stage,” he said.
He also said he had given a copy of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 and the book he had written on what had happened in Parliament at the time of passage of this bill.
