Former YSR Congress party general secretary and ex-Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy seems to have got the clearance from the Bharatiya Janata Party national leadership to join the party sooner or later.
On Saturday, Sai Reddy visited the Lord Venkateshwara temple on Tirumala in the early hours along with his wife. He got his head tonsured and offered hair to the Lord as a part of fulfilling a vow.
He participated in the temple rituals. After the darshan, he received Vedic blessings at the Ranganayakula Mandapam within the temple premises.
He was also presented with teertha prasadams and sacred silk garments (Sheshavastram) by the temple authorities.
When journalists tried to interact with him outside the temple, he refrained from making any significant comments.
But inquiries with sources close to him indicated that Sai Reddy got the green signal to join the BJP, marking his re-entry into politics and hence, he has fulfilled his vow.
Once a key leader in the YSR Congress Party since its inception, Sai Reddy is currently away from active politics.
He is under investigation in a liquor scam and has appeared multiple times before the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
“Maybe, he also sought blessings from Lord Venkateshwara to wriggle out of the cases pending against him,” said another source.
