Pawan Kalyan exits NDA to support Chandrababu

Power star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan has finally decided to snap ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party and come out of the National Democratic Alliance.

According to a report by a national news agency, Pawan declared on Thursday that he had come out of the BJP-led NDA to support the Telugu Desam Party led by former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu in difficult times.

He told the news agency that the Jana Sena-TDP combine is essential for good governance and development of Andhra Pradesh.

“The TDP is a strong party and Andhra Pradesh needs it for good governance and for the development of the state. Today, the TDP is facing a struggle. We will support them. The TDP needs the support of the Jana Sainiks’ young blood in this situation,” Pawan Kalyan said.

It was only on July 18 that Pawan Kalyan had attended the meeting of all the NDA partners in New Delhi, addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He declared then that his party would support Modi’s vision and the concept of Atma Nirbhar Bharat.

For the last one year, Pawan Kalyan has been hinting at a possible alliance with the TDP for quite some time and hoping to bring the BJP also into the loop to fight against the ruling YSR Congress party led by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in the coming elections.

But the BJP has not been responding positively to his proposal despite the attempts by Naidu to restore ties with it.

After Naidu was arrested in the skill development scam and sent to Rajahmundry central jail, Pawan came strongly in support of him. He met Naidu at Rajahmundry Central Jail on September 14.

He also held discussions with Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh and brother-in-law Nandamuri Balakrishna, before declaring to the reporters that the Jana Sena would have an alliance with the TDP in the coming assembly and general elections in AP and hoped that the BJP would join them.

But the BJP remained silent. Party state president Daggubati Purandeshwari said for now, the alliance between the BJP and Jana Sena Party was still continuing and it is for the high command to take a call on forging alliance with any other party.

“We have nothing to say about the alliance between Jana Sena and the TDP,” she said, adding that there was no need to comment on whatever Pawan Kalyan was doing.

“It is for him to take decisions on behalf of his party. It is for him to decide on the friendship with the BJP,” Purandeshwari said.
