The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Andhra Pradesh police, which is probing the sensational liquor scam that took place during Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tenure, has intensified its investigation.
The prime accused, Raj Kasireddy, along with two others, has already been arrested and is currently in judicial remand.
In the latest development, SIT officials have taken Raj Kasireddy’s personal assistant, Paila Dilip, into custody.
According to sources, Dilip possesses crucial information related to the liquor scam.
Sources revealed that Dilip had been evading the police for the past several days, ignoring multiple summons.
On Thursday, while attempting to flee to an undisclosed location, he was intercepted by officials at Chennai airport, who had tracked his phone location.
The SIT team had been closely monitoring his movements and successfully apprehended him at the airport. He is expected to be brought to Vijayawada later in the night.
Meanwhile, a Vijayawada court has granted the police custody of Raj Kasireddy.
The court has permitted the CID to take him into custody for one week, starting Friday. He will be questioned daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Although the CID had initially requested a 10-day custody period, the court approved a 7-day interrogation window to question the key suspect.
