Lavu quits YSRCP: What's going on in YSRCP?

Yet another Lok Sabha member belonging to the ruling YSR Congress party in Andhra Pradesh, Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, on Tuesday resigned from the Lok Sabha membership and also the primary membership of the party.

Devarayalu sent his resignation letter to party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in the morning, stating that he had taken the decision in view of the peculiar situation prevailing in the party for the last few days.

Stating that he was not responsible for the crisis in the party, the Narsaraopet MP said there were indications from the party that he won’t be getting the party ticket for the coming Lok Sabha elections and that it would be given to a Backward Classes leader.

In fact, Jagan has finalised the name of local leader Nagarjuna Yadav for the Narsaraopet seat, but the decision was kept pending following representation from the party MLAs under parliamentary constituency to retain him.

Yet, there was no assurance from the party leadership and Devarayalu got the indications that he should step down for Nagarjuna Yadav. Disgusted with the party decision, the MP decided to call it quits to the party.

He did not disclose which party he would be joining, but there are indications that he might be looking towards the Telugu Desam Party on account of caste equations.

It was only on Saturday last that another MP Vallabhaneni Balashowry announced his resignation from the party. He later met Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan and expressed his interest in joining the party.

Balashowry, who represents Machilipatnam parliamentary constituency in Krishna district, took to X (formerly Twitter) in the evening saying he was quitting the YSRCP.

“I have decided to join the Jana Sena Party led by Pawan Kalyan,” he said in his posting on his social media platform.

Balashowry took the decision, apparently after getting signals from party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy that he won’t get the party ticket in the upcoming general elections.

A few days before, YSRCP MP from Kurnool Dr Sanjeev Kumar announced his resignation from the party and also his Lok Sabha membership. He told reporters that he could not do anything for the development of Kurnool in the last four and a half years.

There are reports that Ongole MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy would resign from the party as Jagan has refused to entertain his request to retain him in Ongole.
