KCR against 'early polls' to AP Assembly!

KCR against 'early polls' to AP Assembly!

Speculations are rife in political circles that YSRCP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is actively considering a proposal to dissolve the AP Legislative Assembly to ensure early elections in AP along with Telangana in December 2023.

As per the schedule, AP Assembly polls are scheduled for April/May 2024. But speculations are going around that Jagan wants to dissolve the Assembly sometime around August/September to ensure that Assembly polls are held in December 2023 along with Telangana since TDP is gaining ground after its recent stunning performance in MLC elections.

These speculations triggered more debate in BRS circles in Telangana than in YSRCP in AP. This is because YS Jagan and BRS president, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, continue to have cordial relations politically although they have not met since 2019 due to disputes over Krishna water sharing, and KCR opposing BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi tooth and nail.

BRS circles say KCR is totally against Jagan going for early polls as KCR may not be able to focus on AP Assembly polls if held simultaneously with Telangana Assembly polls in December 2023.

They say it's an open secret that KCR extended moral and financial support to Jagan during the 2019 AP Assembly polls, which helped Jagan a lot to root out TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu from power.

This would not be possible if AP Assembly polls are held simultaneously with TS Assembly polls as KCR himself would be devoting his entire time and energies to retaining the third term for BRS.

BRS circles say TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu may exploit this situation to his advantage and gain political power in AP. If TDP gains power in AP, it would have an automatic impact on Telangana politics, as Naidu with his power and financial resources will once again try to revive TDP in Telangana, which is on a ventilator at present.

By all means, KCR will persuade Jagan not to take any hasty decision on dissolving the AP Assembly and wait for BRS to come to power again in December 2023 in Telangana so that they could together take on the "common enemy" Chandrababu Naidu in 2024 AP Assembly polls, BRS circles say.
