Jagan Tests Negative For Corona!

Setting an example for the people of Andhra Pradesh, YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday volunteered to undergo tests for Coronavirus.

And as expected, he tested negative for the virus, but it gave the much-needed relief to everybody. Doctors who conducted test on the chief minister, disclosed the results within 10 minutes, thanks to the usage of rapid test kit imported from South Korea in the morning.

A large consignment of one lakh rapid test kits arrived in Vijayawada by road from Hyderabad International Airport at Shamshabad.

A special chartered flight of Air India brought these kits from South Korea, first to Delhi on Thursday morning and to Hyderabad in the evening. 

The kits, manufactured by SD Biosensors of South Korea, were handed over to the chief minister by managing director of Random Medicaids Private Limited Rajiv Sindhi and director Muralidhar. They were formally inaugurated by Jagan in the presence of his senior colleagues in the cabinet and officials of the health department.

The kits, which are also being exported to the US and other European countries, have already been approved by the ICMR.

The company officials said that standard kits were being supplied and that technical knowhow would also be provided to the government when in need.

Special chief secretary (health) Dr K S Jawahar Reddy said the rapid test kits would be used for identification even if the infection is cured.

“With this consignment of testing kits, the capacity of COVID-19 tests in the state will increase,” he said.

He further mentioned that the kits would be despatched to all districts within 4-5 days, and will be used for community testing.

Reddy said AP stands fourth in the country in conducting tests for Covid -19 cases as per the national data. So far, as many as 16,555 samples had been tested till date, which accounts for 331 tests per million people. Rajasthan with 549 tests per million is at the top, followed by Kerala(485), Maharastra (446).
