Notwithstanding the opposition by the Centre and allegations being levelled by the opposition parties, YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced that he would go ahead with his decisions to review every contract of the previous government that smacked of corruption.
Describing his decisions as revolutionary, Jagan pointed out that they have started yielding results.
Speaking at the 208th Bankers’ Conference here on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said that the reverse tendering and other path-breaking decisions the government had taken are yielding the desired results.
The Polavaram reverse tendering has saved Rs 782 cores to the exchequer which is a sign that we are moving in the right direction and austerity measures are in place.
The Judicial Preview is a step which was taken in the state for the first time and it is bound to bring in good results.
“The Polavaram re tendering has given enough proof that we can root out corruption save public money from giving it on a platter to the contractors who had quoted exorbitant rates or had acquired the bidding qualification through unfair means,” he claimed.
In no other state does the reverse tendering and Judicial Preview exist.
“We want to usher in transparency in the governance,” he said.
