Eenadu group chairman Cherukuri Ramoji Rao seems to be more scared now than ever. In fact, he has had very few defeats or troubles in his 50-year career in the media and other business activities.
There were days when even chief ministers of the state did not dare to raise their heads and look at Ramoji Rao.
Eenadu daily had made him all-powerful, taller than everyone in the state, and, to some extent, one of the biggest personalities in the country.
That was the image he carried, and that was one of the reasons why Union Home Minister Amit Shah had gone to his house and met him a year ago.
But all days are not ours, and the day would come when we have to bow down.
The bad day had come to Ramoji Rao in the form of Jagan Mohan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh.
The Jagan Mohan Reddy government’s CID officials have searched Ramoji Rao’s offices, found him guilty of money laundering, booked cases against him as A1, issued notices, and finally questioned him!
This was never imagined by anyone, leave alone Ramoji Rao himself. No police had dared to knock at his door or raise their heads to look at Ramoji Rao’s image.
With the APCID going tough on the Margadarsi case, Ramoji Rao had to bow down. He allowed the CID officials into his bedroom to question him.
Now, he is leading a campaign in his support in the Eenadu paper every day to save his skin.
He gets politicians, advocates, and others to speak for him and save him from the CID cases.
Every Tom, Dick, and Harry is now found in the Eenadu paper giving clean certificates to Ramoji Rao, praising his personality, and finally issuing him a conduct certificate.
All this shows that Ramoji Rao is scared of Jagan Mohan Reddy and fears being arrested anytime by the AP CID.
