HC Stalls Arrest Of Ayyanna In Nirbhaya Case!

Former minister and senior TDP leader Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu managed to avoid being arrested in the Nirbhaya case filed against him by the Narsipatnam police.

Ayyanna, who moved the high court with a quash petition seeking that the case filed against him be struck down, got a temporary reprieve.

The court, which conducted hearing in the case, gave interim orders stalling his arrest and deferred the case by two weeks.

It may be mentioned that the Narsimpatnam police registered a case under Nirbhaya Act against Ayyannap Patrudu for allegedly making abusive and unparliamentary comments against local municipal commissioner Krishnaveni.

Acting on a complaint lodged by Krishnaveni, the police booked cases against the former minister under Sections 354-A (4), 500, 504, 505 (1)(b), 505 (2), 506 and 509 of Indian Penal Code.

Apparently, Ayyanna had used some vulgar language against Krishnaveni for removing the portrait of his grandfather and former MLA of Narsipatnam Ruthala Lacha Patrudu and the police booked him under the Nirbhaya Act.

However, Ayyanan Patrudu challenged the case saying it was politically motivated and was done at the behest of the ruling YSR Congress party.
