Ex-MP of Andhra returns to non-existent party!

Ex-MP of Andhra returns to non-existent party!

It looks like former parliament member from Amalapuram constituency in East Godavari district G V Harsha Kumar is a confused man in deciding his political future.

Having sailed with the Congress party for a long time and enjoying the position of an MP, Harsha Kumar had no choice after the virtual disappearance of the party in the state post-bifurcation of combined Andhra Pradesh. He was unable to decide where to go for a long time.

Just before 2019 general elections, Harsha Kumar joined the Telugu Desam Party along with another former Congress MP Panabaka Lakshmi in the presence of party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

But unfortunately for him, he could not get the TDP ticket for Amalapuram, while Panabaka unsuccessfully contested from Tirupati parliamentary constituency. Since the loss of the TDP in the elections, Harsha Kumar has been keeping away from TDP activities.

He has been attacking the Jagan Mohan Reddy government on Dalit issues and other issues like distribution of house sites in marsh lands of East Godavari etc.

Now, this Dalit leader has decided to test his political fortunes in the Congress party again.

On Friday, Harsha Kumar announced that he would return to his parent party to work under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi.

He alleged that there was an atrocious rule in the state as well as the Centre. There have been increasing attacks on Dalits during the Jagan government.

“Dalits are being assaulted, killed and tonsured. Similarly, at the national level, too, atrocities on Dalits have been on the rise during the BJP regime,” he said.

Harsha Kumar vowed to bring back the glory to the Congress in the state.

“There is a genuine need to bring a new leadership to the country. And Rahul is the only person who is capable of doing it. That is why, I decided to join the Congress,” he said.
