Remember Mannem Nageshwar Rao, an IPS officer from Warangal, who served as interim director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a few days and kicked up various controversies?
Known for his controversial actions and comments, he is back in the news once again with his critical comments against YSR Congress party president and chief minster Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The 1986-batch controversial IPS officer, who joined the CBI in 2016, had faced contempt of court from Supreme Court for disobeying its order on the transfer of a CBI joint director.
Nageshwar Rao was later shunted out of the CBI following various complaints, including committing financial irregularities, influencing investigations and scuttling probes against him. His wife also faced allegations of floating shell companies for money laundering.
He had allegedly slowed down the investigation into the Saradha chit fund scam to save his wife’s properties that were under the scanner of West Bengal police.
After his retirement last year, Nageshwar Rao has turned hardcore Hindutva activist and has been attacking anti-Hindu forces on social media platforms.
Very recently, he made derogatory comments against social activist Swami Agnivesh, who died of liver cirrhosis.
He tweeted on Swami Agnivesh’s death saying Good riddance.
“You were an Anti-Hindu donning saffron clothes. You did enormous damage to Hinduism. I am ashamed that you were born as a Telugu Brahmin. You are a wolf in sheep’s clothes. My grievance against Yamaraj is why did he wait this long (sic)!"
On Wednesday, Nageshwar Rao attacked Jagan on his twitter platform: “How secular it is n when AP Govt kabjafied 24,846 Temples but not Mosques/Churches? If you @ysjagan are keen to get rid of nuisance, then please return Temples to Hindu society by making a law similar to Sikh Gurdwara Act? If you are interested, I can make a presentation about it.”
Interestingly, Nageshwar Rao received a strong retort from MP Subrahmanyam Swamy.
He shot back saying: “Ask all State governments including BJP ruked and especially Uttarakhand. This did not occur to you when CBN was CM? Where was your moral outrage then?”
