CID issues notices to TDP on party funds!

The Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (AP CID) on Tuesday issued notices to the Telugu Desam Party office in Mangalagiri seeking details of the cash credited to the party account.

According to information, the notices were served in the name of TDP general secretary and treasurer, asking details of the Rs 27 crore credited to the party account. The CID asked both of them to come to its office on November 18 with the details.

The CID is suspecting that Rs 27 crore was transferred to the TDP account in the skill development scam case and the CID reportedly submitted evidence to the effect to the Anti-Corruption Bureau court, informing the latter that there was need to enquire the TDP auditor in the matter.

The TDP, on its part, had approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court, alleging that the CID was harassing it.

Earlier, TDP state president K Atchannaidu alleged that the receipt of Rs 27 crore by the party as donations in the form of electoral bonds in 2018-19 has been submitted by the CID to the ACB Court as proof of the funds allegedly swindled in the skill development project, with an intention to prolong the case against former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Atchannaidu said the details of donations exceeding Rs 20,000 given to the political parties in cash would be informed to the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Income Tax Department as per established procedures, and the same could be downloaded from the ECI website.

He further said that the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) had received a sum of Rs 99.84 crore in the form of electoral bonds in 2018-19, Rs 74.35 crore in 2019-20, Rs 96.25 crore in 2020-21 and Rs 60 crore in 2021-22.

The information pertaining to the TDP was downloaded by the CID from the ECI website six months ago, but it could not detect anything wrong in it. But the same was apprised to the court as part of the plan to keep Naidu behind the bars for as long as possible, he said.
