BJP likens Naidu with Kattappa: Wrong comparison?

Bharatiya Janata Party national general secretary and co-in-charge of Andhra Pradesh affairs Sunil V Deodhar on Thursday compared Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu with “Kattappa,” a character in the superhit film Baahubali.

Deodhar was making a reference to Naidu’s habit of stabbing in the back of people who were closer to him and reposed trust in him like his own father-in-law N T Rama Rao.

Apparently, he was talking about Naidu ditching the BJP with whose help he had come to power in Andhra Pradesh in 2014 assembly elections.

Speaking to media in Kurnool, Deodhar said the BJP had permanently closed the doors for Naidu and there was no question of forging any alliance with the TDP in future.

“The chapter is closed,” he said.

He reminded that even Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP national president Amit Shah and working president J P Nadda also asserted that the BJP would not have any alliance with the TDP at any time in future.

The BJP leader was referring to the observations made by the TDP president at a party meeting in Visakhapatnam the TDP had done a mistake by snapping ties with the BJP and that he had no personal enmity with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“The TDP is a gone case in Andhra Pradesh and its era is coming to an end very soon,” Deodhar said.

The BJP general secretary might have compared Naidu with Deodhar keeping in view the back-stabbing episode, but it is not a right comparison.

In Baahubali, Kattappa stabs the hero in the back as part of his commitment to his kingdom. But Naidu had indulged in back-stabbing of the BJP for his political gains. That is the difference!
