BJP clears decks for Jana Sena-TDP alliance

BJP clears decks for Jana Sena-TDP alliance

Jana Sena Party president and power star Pawan Kalyan, who had been waiting for a road map from the Bharatiya Janata Party leadership over the joint strategy to fight against the ruling YSR Congress party government in Andhra Pradesh, appears to have got it at last.

The Tuesday’s meeting held by the BJP leaders of Andhra Pradesh to discuss the future course of action, has sent a clear message to the people as well as the Jana Sena Party that the alliance between the two parties has been more or less ended.

In fact, the honeymoon between Jana Sena and BJP has come to an end long ago, the alliance has been there at least on paper. But now, the BJP leadership has virtually ended the friendship saying the party may have to go it alone in the next elections.

“We shall try to grow on our own in the coming days and emerge as a potential political force in the state. We have decided to end this uncertainty over the alliance with Jana Sena as the latter has stopped taking the BJP along with it in any of the programmes,” a senior BJP leader from Andhra said.

The BJP leadership has reportedly conveyed a message to Pawan Kalyan through Jana Sena Party political affairs committee chairman Nadendla Manohar that it would not like to be party to the Jana Sena-TDP combine.

“Pawan Kalyan should come out with clarity on whether he wants to go with the TDP or BJP. The ball is in his court. There is no scope for any ambiguity in this regard,” the BJP leader said.

With the BJP making its stand clear, decks are cleared for the Jana Sena-TDP alliance. The power star is now said to be relaxed on his future course of action as he has made up his mind to go with the TDP.

“The way Pawan has reacted on the outcome of the recent MLC elections and the way he condemned the alleged manhandling of the TDP members by the YSRC members in the assembly clearly shows he is inclining towards the TDP. So, it is pretty clear that the Jana Sena Party would go with the TDP in the next elections,” an analyst observed.
