Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu is understood to have made hard bargaining with Bharatiya Janata Party with regard to sharing of assembly and Lok Sabha seats and convinced it to join the TDP-Jana Sena Party alliance for the upcoming elections in the state.
Naidu, along with Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan, held prolonged negotiations with top Bharatiya Janata Party leadership in Delhi, including Union home minister Amit Shah and national BJP president J P Nadda, till the early hours on Thursday.
The talks resumed again on Friday morning and finally, both the sides came to an understanding.
According to reports from New Delhi, the BJP agreed to accept five Lok Sabha seats and six assembly seats as part of seat sharing with the TDP-Jana Sena combine.
So, the TDP will have a lion’s share in the alliance with 145 assembly seats and 17 Lok Sabha seats, the Jana Sena and the BJP would get the remaining 30 assembly seats and eight Lok Sabha seats. A joint statement from the three parties is likely to be announced by evening, sources said.
The five Lok Sabha seats allotted to the BJP are: Araku, Rajahmundry, Narasapuram, Tirupati and Rajampet, while the Jana Sena will be contesting from Anakapalle, Kakinada and Machilipatnam constituencies.
