A 36-year-old man from Tirupati, identified as Jeswanth Manikonda, has been arrested in California on charges of domestic violence and violating a protective court order.
The arrest was made by the Milpitas Police Department (MPD) in coordination with the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, following an investigation into a domestic violence complaint filed by his wife.
According to public court records, Jeswanth has been charged under California Penal Code 273.5(a) for causing injury to a spouse or cohabitant and under 273.6(a) for violating a protection order.
A superior court judge issued the arrest warrant based on police reports and sworn statements.
Jeswanth was taken to Elmwood Correctional Facility after the arrest. He has since been granted bail and is awaiting a court hearing.
Taruni, a women’s rights organisation, confirmed its involvement in supporting the survivor.
“This is not an isolated case but part of a pattern of violence over several years,” said Angana R., the organisation’s director.
She added that Taruni is providing legal aid and counselling to the survivor.
Angana urged domestic abuse victims in the U.S. to seek help from verified organisations like Taruni for protection and legal assistance.
