War 2 (Hindi) has picked up pace on its second day, heading towards a ₹40 crore-plus nett haul as mass centres show stronger traction and solid gains.
The spike is largely attributed to the Independence Day holiday, which traditionally boosts footfalls. However, when a big film starts with only average numbers, there’s always a concern that growth might be harder to sustain.
The film is tracking for around 50% growth in Hindi on day two - likely to be its best day given the holiday boost.
In the Nizam/Andhra region, the Hindi version has seen very limited screenings due to the wide release of the Telugu version.
While other Hindi films have been dubbed in Telugu before, War 2’s Hindi release in these territories has been exceptionally restricted.
By the end of two days, War 2 could reach around ₹70 crore nett or slightly higher, still falling short of early expectations.
Nevertheless, the film will head into the weekend with some momentum - albeit driven by holidays.
With Janmashtami falling on Saturday, certain mass-market regions are expected to perform better than a regular weekend day.
If trends hold, the film’s three-day weekend total could end up being the highest ever for a Hrithik Roshan starrer, even though the Telugu version is set for a sharp drop, as was anticipated.
