Tollywood has witnessed many blockbusters in the recent years. Films like Magadheera, Simha, Gabbar Singh, Dookudu, Eega, Mirchi and Attharintiki Daaredi have minted money at the box-office. Apart from SS Rajamouli's Eega, all the other films were commercial entertainers or formula based films.
Unlike Tamil and Malayalam filmmakers, our directors tend to bank of a safe and routine stories, but things seems to be changing now. Films like Prathinidhi and Manam are the best examples for that.
It took me 4 years to convince a producer to make Prathinidhi, says Anand Ravi, Story and Dialogue writer of Prathinidhi.
"I have narrated this story to many notable actors. Everyone one of them liked the story line but they were not comfortable to appear in a political movie. My Prathinidhi is not a political movie but a film based on the current issues. Nara Rohith was impressed with the line and that is how my story has finally appeared on the big screen" said Anand Ravi.
Vikram Kumar made 13B in the past and the film is considered to be one of the best ever thrillers made in India. After that, Vikram opted for a clean love story (Ishq) and the film became oxygen to actor Nithin, who has going through a bad phase at the time. Then came, Akkineni's Manam. When Vikram narrated the storyline, Nagarjuna was impressed and asked him convince his father ANR. Vikram was confident about the script and it took 6 hours to narrate the entire story to the Legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao. Vikram asked for 1 year time from Nagarjuna to develop the script and the director along with Harshavardhan and other writers, have finally come up with a complicated-yet-simple story.
"Lot of people might think that Manam has got a complicated story, but i feel that this is a simplest story ever said in Telugu Cinema" said Harsha Vardhan.
Success of films like Prathinidhi and Manam has given lot of confidence for the young filmmakers and we can expect some good film from them in future.
