NTR condemns assembly incident, no reference to Naidu

A couple of hours after Nandamuri family led by senior Tollywood actor Balakrishna rallied behind Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on the ugly episode in the AP assembly on Friday, young hero N T Rama Rao came out with his own reaction separately.

NTR released a two-minute recorded video message stating that he was very much pained at the development in the state assembly on Friday.

He said allegations and counter-allegations, criticism and counter-criticism were very common in politics but it should be confined to people’s issues.

“But it is unfortunate that our leaders are indulging in personal abuses in unparliamentary language. Especially, dragging our “aadapaduchulu” (womenfolk) into the political fight is something uncalled for and it reflects an anarchic rule and an affront on our culture. I am strongly condemning the same,” he said.

Stating that he was not making this statement not because he hailed from the family which was targeted in the assembly, NTR said he was speaking as a son, brother and husband and also a citizen of this country.

“I request all the political leaders not to resort to this ugly slugfest again,” he said.

Interestingly, in his entire message, NTR did not make any reference to Naidu or the manner in which he broke down in front of the media.

He also did not take the name of his aunt Bhuvaneshwari, nor did he make any open criticism against YSR Congress party or chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

But he had to apparently make the statement on a request from his uncle Nandamuri Balakrishna, who is now taking control of the situation to save the party cadre!
