Even as the visit of Andhra Pradesh minister for cinematography Perni Venkatramaiah alias Nani to the residence of senior actor and former MP Manchu Mohan Babu kicked up a controversy, the latter’s son and actor Manchu Vishnu landed in Tadepalli to meet chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
According to sources, Vishnu is going to have a one-on-one meeting with Jagan in the afternoon to discuss the issues concerning the Telugu cinema industry.
The meeting is being held five days after the chief minister held discussions with a delegation of the film industry led by Chiranjeevi.
It is not immediately known whether Vishnu sought an appointment with Jagan on his own and got it in his personal capacity.
Vishnu also happens to be a close relative of Jagan by virtue of his marriage with latter’s cousin.
There is also a talk that the chief minister himself called Vishnu for a meeting in the capacity of the president of the Movie Artistes’ Association.
Since he has already held a meeting the Tollywood delegation led by megastar Chiranjeevi, he might have thought it appropriate to call the MAA president as well, so as to prevent any misapprehensions within the industry.
Apparently, when Perni Nani went to Mohan Babu’s residence, the latter reportedly expressed dissatisfaction over the way Jagan has invited only a select group of actors and directors to the meeting, ignoring seniors like him.
He also reportedly told Nani to convey his disappointment to Jagan.
The meeting kicked up a lot of controversy, after Vishnu first tweeted that Nani came to his father to brief the details of the meeting of Jagan with the Tollywood delegation.
Later, Vishnu deleted the tweet.
Mohan Babu later clarified that he had invited Nani for a breakfast meeting only as a matter of courtesy and it had nothing to do with discussions Jagan had held with the Tollywood delegation.
He also declared that he was no more interested in politics.
It remains to be seen what Jagan would discuss with Vishnu and what the outcome of the meeting would be.
