Kamal Haasan has finally opened up about director Sundar C’s sudden exit from Thalaivar 173, the highly anticipated Rajinikanth film being produced under his banner.
The project created massive buzz when India’s two legendary superstars; Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan; reunited for a film after decades.
Sundar C was announced as the director, but just days later, he shocked fans by stepping away from the film, citing “unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances.”
Now, Kamal Haasan has responded for the first time.
Speaking to reporters, Kamal said he had nothing more to add beyond Sundar C’s official statement.
He emphasised that his priority as a producer is to find a script that truly satisfies Rajinikanth.
Kamal said, “Until my star is satisfied with the script, we will keep scouting for it. We are currently in the process of finalising a quality script.”
Kamal also hinted that the team may bring in a fresh, young filmmaker to direct Thalaivar 173, saying, “Expect the unexpected.”
Sundar C, in his statement on November 13, expressed deep regret over stepping back from the prestigious project.
He wrote, “It is with a heavy heart that I share this news. Due to unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances, I have made the difficult decision to step away from #Thalaivar173.”
He added, “In life, there are moments when we must follow the path laid out for us, even if it diverges from our dreams.”
With the search for a “visionary director” now underway and Kamal Haasan determined to get the perfect script for Rajinikanth, fans are eagerly waiting for the next big announcement from the Thalaivar 173 team.
