Is Chiranjeevi Still A Mega Star?

Is Chiranjeevi Still A Mega Star?

What determines a hero's compensation? Isn't it primarily their market value? What both heroes and producers assert is that remuneration aligns with the principles of supply and demand.

Let's delve into these calculations. And as for Chiranjeevi, is he still a megastar? Let's leave that to the public's imagination after this explanation.

According to insiders from the industry, Megastar Chiru's payment for 'Godfather' was 50 crore rupees.

For Waltair Veerayya, he received a sum of 55 crore rupees.

For Bholashankar, he commanded a fee of 65 crore rupees.

The movie "Godfather" made a breakeven, while Waltair Veerayya secured some profits. But what about the status of "Bhola Shankar"?

In the Nizam region, there is no buyer for "Bhola Shankar", the Megastar's movie. There was once talk that the Megastar used to include the Nizam area in his remuneration package. But now a Chiranjeevi's film found no buyers in the Naizam area. Eventually, it was released by the producer through a hired distributor.

Beyond the Naizam area, "Bhola Shankar" found no overseas buyers. Initially a buyer came forward but in the last moment he stepped back and took only for distrubtion only on the percentage on profit basis with zero risk.

Only two or three regions in Andhra were successfully sold. The remaining territories remained unsold.

To compound matters, the satellite rights of "Bhola Shankar" were left unsold. If even Megastar Chiranjeevi's movie can't secure satellite rights, what conclusion should we draw? The issue arose because producer Anil Sunkara intended to balance the books by including satellite rights in the remuneration of Megastar at the eleventh hour. However, it appears Chiru didn't agree to that proposal. Despite the offer, he declined the rights and so eventually he was paid a sum of 60 crores in cash and a post-dated check of five crores.

Now, if Chiru is still a megastar, why is this movie's situation dire? It seems that producer Anil Sunkara reelased the film with a Rs 40 Cr deficit. He faced numerous challenges in releasing the film.

Whose mistake is it? It's not solely the Megastar's for requesting a fee of 65 crores. It's the producer's blunder who chose to proceed with the film at such mammoth costs. With this kind of senseless pampering, the producer is not only spoiling himself for entire film industry.
