Veteran Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has opened up about his divorce from Dhanashree Verma, firmly denying cheating allegations and shedding light on his mental health struggles during that period.
Speaking on Raj Shamani's podcast, Chahal said, “I have never cheated. You won’t find a more loyal person than me.”
He added that he and Dhanashree chose to keep their separation private until the divorce was finalized, maintaining a normal appearance on social media to avoid public speculation.
Chahal expressed frustration over being wrongly labeled, saying, “I have two sisters, I know how to respect women. Just because I’m seen with someone doesn’t mean there’s a relationship.”
Revealing the emotional toll the divorce took, Chahal admitted to experiencing intense anxiety, sleeplessness, and even suicidal thoughts.
“Same anxiety, crying for two hours, only 2-3 hours of sleep… it felt never-ending,” he said. “I took a break from cricket because I didn’t want the team to suffer.”
His honest revelations have sparked widespread discussion on mental health awareness and the pressures athletes face beyond the field.
