It is already news that the Telugu blockbuster of yesteryears, Arundhati, is being remade in Hindi.
Well, this is the trend and time for horror films, and the decision makes sense technically.
However, the remake of a superhit in one language always faces the risk of comparison by audiences.
Already, Arundhati was remade in Bengali as a scene-to-scene adaptation.
Another point to note is that the North Indian audience themselves made several videos trolling the Bengali version, comparing it with the high standards of the Telugu original.
Now, if a Hindi version comes into the picture after so many years, comparisons are inevitable.
On the other hand, the greater risk lies with Sreeleela, who has to emulate Anushka Shetty.
Anushka gained immense fame and recognition through her role in Arundhati. Recreating that magic is indeed a huge challenge for Sreeleela.
With a few flops behind her and criticism for inconsistent performances in Telugu cinema, attempting a powerful role like Arundhati could be risky unless she performs exceptionally and the director captures the film in a breathtaking way that stands apart from the original.
Moreover, the director of the Hindi remake is Mohan Raja, known for Chiranjeevi’s Godfather, which didn't work at the box office.
With ace producer Allu Aravind backing the project, it will be interesting to see how everything unfolds.
