Bollywood Talk On 'The Raja Saab': A Thumbs Down

The teaser of The Raja Saab, starring Prabhas and directed by Maruthi, was released today and has garnered a mixed response.

While Telugu audiences seem to have embraced the teaser positively, Bollywood fans were far less impressed.

Many took to social media to express disappointment, criticizing various elements of the trailer, particularly its horror-fantasy tone.

One user wrote that the first glimpse of the film “screamed disappointment,” while another commented on the “shoddy” VFX, especially for a film reportedly made on a massive Rs 300– Rs 450 crore budget.

Sanjay Dutt’s look as the antagonist was also mocked, and viewers claimed that neither the horror nor the fantasy aspects landed well, which are supposed to be the film’s core.

Some compared it unfavorably to Bollywood horror comedies like Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Stree 2, questioning what new The Raja Saab could offer.

Others criticized the film’s tone, calling it “cringe” and below Prabhas’ standards, blaming the director for the poor execution.

We need to see if the Bollywood audience develops interest down the line with the songs or the trailer.
