AI in Storytelling: Cost or Creativity?

At Goafest 2025, Day 3 spotlighted AI's evolving role in advertising and filmmaking. Vivek Anchalia, CEO of Amazing Indian Stories, showcased how AI-driven tools are transforming visual storytelling.

Citing his upcoming film Naisha, he revealed that AI generated drone shots and mood sequences, offering creative freedom without logistical challenges.

He claimed AI eliminates the need for large crews, detailed decks, and traditional animatics, enabling more streamlined, cost-efficient production.

However, Lulu Raghavan, President (APAC) at Landor, cautioned against oversimplifying AI’s value. While Integrated Production Modules (IPMs) reduce turnaround time, she stressed that creativity still depends on human insight.

Raghavan argued AI remains underhyped and will empower those who grasp its true potential in brand storytelling.

Both speakers noted AI's limitations, especially in music and emotional depth.

Anchalia emphasized that AI complements rather than replaces filmmakers, warning that job displacement could be a side effect of its rapid adoption.
