Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa was arrested on Thursday after the Supreme Court cancelled the bail given to him by the Karnataka High Court in the Renukaswamy murder case.
He is reportedly feeling low and did not join the 79th Independence Day celebrations at Bengaluru Central Prison. Sources say he stayed awake all night after his arrest.
Darshan, his partner Pavithra Gowda, and others were first arrested in June 2024 for allegedly killing 33 year old fan Renukaswamy, who was accused of sending offensive messages to Pavithra.
Both were released on bail later that year, but the SC has now cancelled it. Pavithra was also re-arrested on Thursday from her Bengaluru home.
Along with Darshan, former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, facing charges in a separate criminal case, also skipped the event.
Reports suggest both are depressed over recent legal setbacks. Darshan underwent medical checks before being presented in court.
